A Century On The Route: The Fazzini Family Story
Jamaica Ash & Rubbish Removal Co. started in 1923 with Enrico Fazzini, two draft horses and one wagon cleaning the streets of Long Island. That was before the first garbage truck ever rolled through Nassau County.
A century later the trucks are orange and the routes are longer, but the arrangement has not really changed: a family answers the phone, a crew shows up, and the work gets done. Three generations of Fazzinis have run this company under the same name.
We stayed local on purpose. Nassau and Suffolk County is the whole map, and it is a map our drivers know street by street. That is why same-day and next-day pickup is realistic here rather than a slogan.
The founder's photograph still hangs in the office — a man on a wagon, before any of this existed. It is a useful reminder of what the business is actually built on.
