What Goes In The Container — And What Doesn't

Roll-off containers take the everyday material a cleanout or renovation produces: wood, drywall, flooring, cabinetry, furniture, fixtures, general household junk, and construction and demolition debris.

Some things cannot ride along, and it is not red tape — it is what disposal facilities will and will not accept. Keep out paint, solvents, motor oil, fuel, chemicals, asbestos, propane tanks and other pressurized cylinders, tires, batteries, and appliances containing refrigerant.

Electronics and appliances often need a separate route. So does any material a contractor has flagged as hazardous. If something on your pile is in question, leave it aside and ask before the container is picked up — a single wrong item can turn a routine haul into a rejected load.

Loading matters too. Keep the debris level with the top rails so the load can be tarped and legally hauled, and spread heavy material across the floor of the box rather than piling it at one end.
